I played this song at my son's funeral He's always been a Metallica fan since the day he was conceived I always put the headphones on my belly and he would go crazy when he found this version he fell in love all over again I finally got My hands on tickets for him to go see Metallica It was worth every cent to have him upstage on the floor I'm glad he had the opportunity to see his idols before he had to go 😭 💔 he was born with hydrocephalus had his first brain surgery at a week old such a tiny little baby they told me he wouldn't lift past three or be able to function in society 🙄 What little did they know as he grew up He's had 14 surgeries Three of which were major brain surgeries they still couldn't remove the arachnid cyst he had cerebral palsy he was blind and suffered constant seizures every kind possible we lived in and out of children's hospital a Philadelphia for 18 years till they kicked us to the street and then we found Jefferson University neurologists and neurosurgery he struggled to keep up but with physical speech and occupational therapy 3 days a week 3 straight hours 3 straight years My baby learned everything he walked talked ran with his brothers and sisters he was an honor roll student all through grade school Even played a trumpet with his left hand I couldn't afford to buy a special one for left-handed people so he learned to play on the right-handed trumpet and became first trumpeter highly respected by his school and classmates that knew him he inspired them so much with all he had been through middle school came and went still honor roll student all throughout still playing his trumpet he loved his music so much My little metal head he was so so smart brilliant times I would just sit and stare at him and wonder how I could have created something so perfectly perfect in every way I always looked at him as handicapable not handicapped high school came and he had a choice he could go to tech school or a regular high school I will text go didn't offer a music program but they offered what he wanted and that was to work in/with computers so he chose tech school he was content with playing his trumpet at home while in tech school he was so smart they skipped algebra and put him in trigonometry and was so impressed with his computer skills they hired him to work there while he was in school made honor roll as if it'd be any different he earned presidential pins top 3 of his class we've been struggling throughout all of those years with medical issues he graduatedand went on to college to complete his education in computer's of course college credits he had to make up that algebra class didn't bother him none they saw how brilliant he was they hired him at his college to fix all their computers had his own office It was very important to them once again honors all throughout his college education mind you this is the child they said would never get to live past three he would never learn anything he learned everything and more fed on education he could never learn enough after graduation he went through a couple of jobs always lost them because the seizure activity that he could not control The one thing in life he had no control over he finally found a position working at a place called Sykes he became a part of their family they didn't care how many seizures he had they weren't letting him go he was amazing for their company his coworkers and bosses all loved him so very much My baby boy lived to be 31 on February 21st 2020 when he finally succumbed to covid-19 and major seizure activity he tried/fought so hard All the doctors kept saying he had a virus But they didn't know what kind were up against even if they had there was nothing anyone could do my son was the greatest inspiration to many most of all me I promised him from day one no matter what his needs throughout life my life was his I'd put his needs before mine we became one together when I lost him I lost me the first anniversary of his passing I couldn't believe a year had past already went by so fast and I'm still stuck in a brain fog I don't go out or do anything I just sit and wait for him to call me to help him how do you move on It doesn't help the two years before he passed I lost my beautiful talented youngest daughter She was only 25 and murdered on February 6th of 2018 and I still can't bring myself to go through her things her shoe still sit on the front porch where she took them off and placed them last waiting for her to come home as a parent there is no going Forward or moving on I lost two of my babies two years two weeks apart the same month February is ny far the worst month in the calendar for me It is taken so much from me I guess for whoever reads this I just want you to know look for inspiration in your life Because if he could be faced with so many challenges and conquer everything so could you maybe that's why he picked me as his mother he knew I would need inspiration And he did fulfill that now I need strength for the rest of my life I know my son is no longer suffering or in excruciating pain that I cannot help him with and I know my daughter is at peace as well I don't think I'll ever find my peace until we are reunited again In the meantime my other children even though they're grown still need their mother and my grandchildren need their grandmother so I have to take my son's story and let it inspire me to find whatever I'm looking for so I can be there for them and find me again...
